Day 9 Sun 7/29/2007

Sunday Morning in Ashtarak

This morning we were overjoyed to return to the church in Ashtarak.
John preached on Acts 7, which was very encouraging, together with Emily's encouraging testimony of how God led her to Himself and what He is teaching her right now. Also for the service - we sang some hymns for them and were delighted to hear that they sing the same ones (Nothing but the Blood, Christ the Solid Rock and For the Beauty of the Earth)... ps Susan is sitting next to me and says she would be blogging right now but the computer just won't let her. =)

After the Sunday morning service, we greeted our dear brothers and sisters in Christ! - All the church members, we also met brother Vonik's entire family! And we saw Humest again! It was really nice.

We returned briefly to have lunch at the seminary and then we set off for Sevan.

Outreach Night in Sevan

We had a time of prayer before we began. Praise the Lord for over 100 attendees! Many of our precious children returned with some parents! We watched the Jesus film. Arman would speak between re-fitting rolls. Then at the end, Jamie shared a gospel presentation, Arman spoke once more and then he asked those who wanted to stay to accept Christ to remain seated (as the others exited the auditorium). 17 people stayed to accept Christ! Arman spoke to them and they filled out follow-up cards.

I exited with the group to fulfill their requests and say goodbye (many pentacostal believers and some children not ready to pray to accept Christ). During this time, I spotted a precious young boy who is special to JP and I - So I went to ask him if he had prayed to accept Christ, and he told me that he prayed to accept Christ last Friday!! I was so happy and asked if he could attend church. At that time, one of the pentacostal believers apparently tried to ask him to attend their church. I brought the young boy back into the auditorium and I remained there with him. As I looked across those seated, I was overwhelmed to see Lucine!!!!! The mother who had us come to the beach with her and then over to her house!! This was the first family to extend hospitality to us in Sevan -from the very first day! At the end of the presentation, I sought her and hugged her very long and hard. God is so merciful! Praise the Lord.

Prayer Requests

*Please pray for Lucine! Now that she has prayed to accept Christ, I really don't know whether Grandma Loretta would allow her to attend a diff church other than the Armenian apostolic church. These are the family members: Lucine and her husband, grandpa Rubic, grandma Loretta, Siranouj, Loretta, Marie and Reuben - their picture is posted thanks to Brooks!
*Please pray for the young boy Nevir who said he prayed to accept Christ last Friday
*Please pray for all the children and parents who prayed to accept Christ
*Please pray for protection for them, for the follow-up that Tetevic and Arman will do in calling them, visiting them, and speaking to them about coming to a new church

Home Visits Tomorrow

Please pray for us! We have at least 4 home inivations tomorrow from 12-7 pm.
1. Durik - a young girl and her family.
2. Nune - a young Pentacostal girl
3. Annie - who I just met today
4. Lucine and her family! She prayed to accept Christ today! Please pray for favour with grandpa Loretta and grandpa Rubic.

Please pray for these visits with families to go through. And for Spirit-led conversations. Please pray for their protection. The spiritual warfare has been so intense here. That is all I can say. Please pray for the Lord to bring people to Himself and for Him to establish His church in Sevan.
Praise the Lord!

This is all so exciting guys! Wow- now we need to be praying that Satan doesn't steal these young believers back.

Keep up the good work over the next couple of days, and know that we miss you all!

Linda

PS- Let Susie know I wrote her an e-mail. ;) Thanks!

Hi everyone! It's so great to hear about all that God is doing there and how He's using you all to spread His name. Thanks SO much for all the frequent and detailed updates! I'm praying for you as you go into this week and your last days there, that they would be fruitful times of conversation and in whatever else the Lord would have you do there. And Happy Anniversary to the Leaf's! :)

Blessings,
Katie
